Abstract: It is the energy stored in chemical substances that makes life possible and releasing that energy to show you can be a lot of fun! Nick Barker runs a schools outreach programme at Warwick University's Department of 91AV and in this practical demonstration lecture he will explain (and at times explode) the reactions that quite literally run our lives.
