Solvent selection for industrial processes

Introduction
Organic solvents can dictate chemical reactivity, material properties, chemical compatibility and are a major contributor to the Process-Mass-Intensity Index. However, solvent selection is often empirical and based on a narrow set of available information. At AstraZeneca, Chemical Development we are following a data-led, digital-first solvent selection approach. During this presentation I will demonstrate the tools that allow enable this approach and provide case study for solvent selection for a liquid-liquid extraction process and a case study for process-agnostic solvent substitution to show what is possible.
