Intelligent Clothing: Data-Driven Wearables For Human Performance

2 June 2026 17:00-18:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
In every athlete's journey, there is a moment when the body speaks, and the world goes silent. The moment when strength, speed, and willpower collide. This is the dawn of intelligent performance, with smart fabrics and sportswear powered by AI! Innovative sensors and actuators can now be embedded into fabrics, enabling textiles to respond dynamically to changes in body temperature, electrical signals, and perspiration. Fabric that listens to your heartbeat, feels your movement, and monitors your rhythm. Smart sportswear does not just fit.... It thinks. From the first stride to the final rep, AI-powered apparel becomes your silent partner—analyzing, predicting, and elevating. Every motion becomes a data source. Every heartbeat becomes insight, and every workout becomes a step closer to your peak performance. This is more than innovation. It is an evolution. The fusion of human ambition and machine intelligence. Clothing that adapts in real time, tightening when you push, easing when you recover, and guides you toward the edge of your potential, from start to finish line!

This exciting webinar will be presented by Professor Vanessa Sanchez at Rice University in Texas. Professor Sanchez's background is in fashion design, textile chemistry, and mechanical engineering, and she heads up Rice's TexLab. Her aim is to make our clothing smarter and more assistive through research at the intersection of AI, data science, textiles, design, and manufacturing.
