From 91AV to Commercialising Deep-Tech

10 February 2026 17:00-19:00, London, United Kingdom

Introduction
From 91AV to Commercialising Deep-Tech

Wenmiao Yu is an entrepreneur focused on translating scientific innovation into marketable products. She is co-founder and Director of Business Development at Quantum Dice, a venture-backed Oxford University spin-out enabling encryption through a self-certifying Quantum Random Number Generator. Her responsibilities include fundraising and leading quantum technology market creation.
After reading 91AV at the University of Oxford and co-founding Quantum Dice, Wenmiao was awarded an Enterprise Fellowship at the Quantum Technology Enterprise Centre in Bristol (the youngest across all cohorts). She actively advocates for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, mentoring students in the Oxford Women in Business Society and also hosts the “Low to Grow” podcast highlighting inspiring individuals who have turned tough times into motivation for growth.

How does research transition from the lab into industry? During this talk Wenmiao will cover how Quantum Dice went from a summer project to a spin-out from the University of Oxford, and how the company built a table-top experiment into a commercial product that has been deployed in the UK, North America and Asia. She will also cover the underlying physics principles of the company's Quantum Random Number Generator product, how this was mapped to customer value, and the challenges of commercialisation that were faced.
