Dr Helena Gomes is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. She has more than 10 years’ experience in environmental remediation and resource recovery from waste. Dr Gomes worked as environmental consultant and project manager and between 2006 and 2011 she led the environmental and radiological monitoring programme of uranium abandoned mines in Portugal. She is an active researcher with over 40 peer-reviewed publications, more than 30 conference contributions including keynote presentations and five book chapters on resource recovery and circular economy topics.
