Thanet Archery Club has been giving people the opportunity to partake in the sport of archery for over 70 years. The club caters for all ages and abilities having been the starting point for several county target archers and even to National and International levels. During the club's existence it has catered for disabled archers, people with learning difficulties and sight-impaired archers. Recently the club has a strong junior membership.
The Kent Local Section committee has booked an afternoon ‘taster session’ at the Archery Club for members, Full instruction will be given though sadly there is a lower age limit of 12 for participants and no open toed shoes or upper body piercings are permitted. Starting with a safety talk (an important feature given the nature of the event!), you will shoot 10 arrows to get a feel of the bow, the tension needed and the aiming technique….and then the competition. Your next two dozen arrows will be scored and following a break for tea/coffee you will practice your accuracy against a range of ‘rubber animal targets’ before finishing off at the popinjay (to save you looking it up on Google, this is an 8 metre pole with four pigeons perched on top). Although this will be a fun afternoon, scores will be collated and the winner with the highest score will receive a prize

The cost to members and guests is £15.00 pp. (a significant discount on the full price of £25.00). Payment by BACS is preferred and account details will be supplied on receipt of your booking request. Once payment is received, confirmation of your place(s) will be sent by email.
